as in

"Can't you try to be more natural?"

Variations: "Be yourself ... Relax ... Don’t be so nervous all the time ... Try to have fun."

As Popeye said, “I j’am what I j’am”. (Or something along those lines.)

Whatever does she imagine? That this “you” she is dealing with is an alien? That your body has been occupied? That you choose to stumble around awkwardly, saying the wrong things from time to time, having erections when you don’t mean to - or perhaps not having them when you would like to.

“Be more natural? Oh, thanks for suggesting that. Because actually my natural self is really suave, debonair, witty, intelligent and good looking. I just prefer to go around in this helpless state in order not to intimidate other men or make women swoon.”

Give me a break. What she definitely doesn’t mean, of course, is for you to be, well, more natural”.

To take as much of the bed as you actually want. To fart whenever it is comfortable. To take as much food as you want at mealtime. That sort of thing.

“Natural” in her mind means to be loving, caring, attentive to her every whim.

In short, for you to be some ideal man that has never walked the face of the earth.
